Pants on the Ground!
I’m sorry, I couldn’t help myself. The dude on American Idol last night basically made my night AND my day today. Shaun and I sang that “song” for a good 20 minutes after we were done watching. I don’t care if you’re an AI hater, this guy is classic and you have to check it out. As Simon Cowell said “I have a horrible feeling that song could be a hit.” Seriously. Did you see his 62-year old self doing those push-ups? Impressive.
I got home last night to a package from Goodwill.
I was seriously confused. Why was Goodwill sending me something? I got kind of upset that they were wasting trees sending me this big package. Then, I opened it.
It was a used book from Amazon’ target=_blank>Amazon that my sister got me. How smart of Goodwill to sell books over Amazon’ target=_blank>Amazon? My sister has been raving about this book. I can’t wait to read it. I love this quote from the book:
"You can’t control or dictate the quantity of food your child eats, and you shouldn’t try. You also can’t control or dictate the kind of body your child develops, and you shouldn’t try. What you can do, and it is a great deal, is set things up for your child so she, herself, can regulate her food intake as well as possible, and so she can develop a healthy body that is constitutionally right for her."
I like it already.
Even though I was up way to late singing and dancing to “Pants on the Ground”, I got up this morning and went to Boot Camp. Another phenomenal class. And? I only said 1 bad thing to myself and I caught myself halfway through and said “That’s not true, be nice to yourself.” It was a MAJOR breakthrough.
In an effort to get out of the house by 7:20 (per my husband’s request-he likes to be AT work by 7:30), I’ve started doing my make-up in the car once I get to work. I didn’t touch it while driving. I did, sit in the parking lot this morning and apply.
It worked really well and it got us out of the house by 7:20. Score.
I didn’t use to wear make-up but when I got pregnant, I got bags under my eyes, and they haven’t really ever went away. So now, I wear make-up. I guess that means I’m getting older 🙂
Do you wear make-up? If so, what are your essentials?
I’m a Bare Minerals, eye shadow, and mascara kinda girl myself.

Chelsea – Now I understand the Pants on The Ground thing. I’ll have to look it up.
You have BEAUTIFUl eyes, do you know that?!
My make-up essentials when I am in a hurry are Bare Minerals loose powder, some champagne eye shadow and a taupe eyeshadow from MAC, Neutrogena mascara, and a Sonia Kashuk lip crayon. When I have more time it’s concealer, liquid foundation, cream blush, and brown eyeliner added to mix.
Oh and like you said I feel like I have to wear some coverage every day because I’m starting to get older. My skin used to be fine without anything but some mascara and some lipgloss. Now not so much. BOO!
I have always worn makeup and feel naked without it. I guess that’s what happens when you grow up with a Mother who doesn’t leave the house without her lipstick applied.
My essentials are bare minerals then I apply brown eye shadow and brown liner with black brown mascara. I have never ever found a lipstick color that I liked so for my lips it’s chapstick and if I’m going somewhere fancy then shimmer gloss and maybe a bit of blush but that’s rare.
Glad I’m not the only one with Pants On the Ground stuck in my head!
My essentials are Bobbi Brown’s tinted moisturizer and mascara. I love Bobbi Brown make-up!! It is great for dry skin and aging skin.
same for me…i can’t NOT wear mascara, and the rest of the time i do bare minerals if we’re going out somewhere. i have my eyeliner tattooed on, so that makes that a lot easier 🙂
I must check out that book!
I am a full on makeup girl. I wish I wasn’t – I just really do not like the way I look without it =( Maybe someday….
Chelsea : )
You are such a beautiful, warm, strong, giving and nurturing woman! I’m SO glad that Shaun is intolerant of the “mean” self talk that you speak of so much. And, that he continues to reflect the wonderful woman that HE sees (and that you are) by supporting your 2010 effort to stop the negative discussions you have with yourself. BTW … who’s dialogue (from your past) are YOU continuing to participate in?? THAT person isn’t even in the room anymore. I love the person that you are. Hugs!! ~Patty
p.s….
obviously, my above comment is from a much earlier post … I was “catching up” on your blog. Hee-hee.
Make-up? Hmmm … varies from day to day, but I gotta say that my BEST make-up secret is to put Mary Kay “night solution” (it’s a serum) on my bare naked clean face in the morning before I even consider how much make-up I need that day. That stuff is awesome!
I am a bare minerals kind of girl as well!
What is this bare minerals you speak of…I’ll have to look that one up.
I rock the no make up look, except when I go out for say…dinner…then I will put on a little bit of Aveda tinted moisturizer, mascara and lip gloss.
I guess I need to look up this “Pants on the ground” thing…
I use all MAC make-up..I wear concealer under my eyes, “Shroom” eyeshadow, Zoom Lash mascara, and “Teddy” eyeliner on the bottom only. And some days a “dusting” of bronzing powder. I usually only put make-up on when I leave the house, if I’m just running to the store, I don’t bother. But if the kids and I are out for the day, I do.
And you are beautiful by the way! You just glow!
Chelsea, that guy last night rocked!
I did not wear makeup until after having Allie, my rosacea acted up after giving birth. The only makeup that covers well enough is BM but now they are saying it could be bad for those with R.
I have to say, that photo of you applying your makeup is SOOOOO Lucy. You’re both beautiful <3
Bare Minerals all the way!
I would love to check out that book. I’m years away from having children myself yet I find how we teach our children about food so fascinating. Will be looking up the AI reference as well.
I’m all about the bare minerals, blush, a smidge of eyeliner, and mascara. But especially the mascara.
Pants on the Ground really killed me too. Those crunches!
Thank you all for the sweet comments ladies. I have to say that I’m not a very good compliment taker but I’m working on it, so THANK YOU.
I’m loving all the Bare Minerals fans out there. I love the stuff!
If you want to watch the Pants on the Ground I linked to it in the first paragraph of the post. It’s the pink wording 🙂
i try not to wear too much makeup when i’m not working since when i do i have to cake A LOT of it on. i stick to mainly bare minerals and some bronzer, shadow eyeliner, and some gloss. but that’s ONLY if i’m seeing people. most of the time my face is completly nude.
I could have written Amanda’s reply-I feel naked without make up, I even put it on the days I work from home “just in case” I go out. And yes, my mom is a “I can’t leave the house without my lipstick kind of girl”
As for me, I use mostly Almay: eye shadow (some of my shadow is Ulta brand), liner, mascara and blush, topped off with some carmex or something else shiney on my lips throughout the day. I’m fortunate to have naturally bright/dark colored lips, so I don’t really need lipstick/color on my lips. Which is good because i hate the feel of lipstick!
