20. Improve on my photography. Working on it.

And, the original 10 in 2010:

20 + 10 Check-In, 1/31/10

January 31st, 2010 — 8:20pm

To tell the truth, I don’t feel like this week went so hot.  I was very tempted to just skip this check-in BUT that’s not what this is about, right?  There are good weeks and bad weeks.  So let’s see.

1. Stop putting myself down.  Treat me like I would want others to treat Lucy. This has been going well.

2. Eat something green every day. Check!

3. Eat 2 servings of fruit every day. Check!

4. Completely cut out dairy. Check!

5. Get back on my bike. Not yet.

6. Do something only for me 1 hour each week. Not so much.

7. Do something with Shaun that doesn’t include me sitting on the computer and him on the XBox or us watching TV for 1 hour each week. Not just the 2 of us this week.

8. Dress nicely, including putting on make-up, at least 3 times a week. Check!

9. Clean out Lucy’s drawers. Nope.

10. Clean out and organize the filing cabinet. Nope.

11. Complete Lucy’s birth book. Nope.

12. Become a faster walker. If you can speed train for running, you can sure as hell do it for walking.  I went on 2 walks this weekend and both were markedly faster.

13. Send out thank you notes in a more timely fashion and to everyone that deserves one. I’m caught up to Christmas now.  I need to get my Christmas ones out and then I’ll be golden. Yes I had some from before Christmas.

14. Feed myself healthy food and exercise, trust myself. I could have done better this week.

15. Save my personal money for a new wardrobe. The phone kind of derailed this one.  I’m down to about $300. Not bad-not great.

16. Be on top of my budget and update Quicken every 2 weeks. I need to do this by tomorrow.

17. Severely limit my computer and phone time when I’m with Lucy.  On weekdays, I should never use them when she’s awake and on weekends, I should use them sparingly when she’s awake. Check!

18. Get the bird out 4 times a week. Twice this week.

19. To appease my husband, never let the gas tank get below 1/2 a tank. Check!

20. Improve on my photography. Still working on it.

And, the original 10 in 2010:

1. Take time out every day to simply enjoy my daughter. Check!

2. Try not to look too far forward or lament the past.  Check!

3. Drink more water-at least 70 ounces per day. Check!

4. Use my juicer A LOT. I only used it twice this week, I’d like to step that up this week.

5. Go to the gym more often than not. Check!

6. Eat healthfully-don’t put anything in my mouth that I wouldn’t feed Lucy. This one is so similar to 14 from above now that I’m changing it to: Floss EVERY day.

8. Run to the top of Waterdog Lake Road, while pushing Lucy, without stopping and back. Check! Walked it today-nice and fast.

9. Post at least 365 times in 2010.  I can post 3 times a day or skip a day but I want my average to be 1 post per day. Working on it.

10. Fold my laundry by Sunday night. Big fail.  I did 2 weeks worth of laundry today 🙁

How’s it going for you?  We’re at the end of January now, are your resolutions sticking with you?

20 + 10 Check-In, 1/17/10

January 17th, 2010 — 8:37pm

How’d I do this week?  It’s a learning process and I think I learned a lot this week.

1. Stop putting myself down.  Treat me like I would want others to treat Lucy. I have done so much better  at this this week.  I’m really proud of myself.

2. Eat something green every day. Check!

3. Eat 2 servings of fruit every day. Check!

4. Completely cut out dairy except yogurt. Check! I feel good too!

5. Get back on my bike. Not yet-it was raining this weekend 🙁 but I am on the spin bike!

6. Do something only for me 1 hour each week. Check! After I got done working today, I took some time to just decompress at Peet’s, it was nice.  I still really want a pedicure-hopefully next weekend!

7. Do something with Shaun that doesn’t include me sitting on the computer and him on the XBox or us watching TV for 1 hour each week. Check! We watched The Hangover on Friday night and then this morning while Lu slept (and slept) we just hung out together in bed like we used to before she came. It was really nice.

8. Dress nicely, including putting on make-up, at least 3 times a week. Check!

9. Clean out Lucy’s drawers. I’m getting close to starting this.

10. Clean out and organize the filing cabinet. I started today-YAY!

11. Complete Lucy’s birth book. Not yet.

12. Become a faster walker. If you can speed train for running, you can sure as hell do it for walking. I am still working on this and I have a treadmill workout to help (dork!).

13. Send out thank you notes in a more timely fashion and to everyone that deserves one. I fail at this one this week 🙁 I didn’t do them last weekend, I will do them.  I will do them.  I will do them.

14. Lose 30 pounds or fit comfortably into my size 4-6 clothing. Feed myself healthy food and exercise, trust myself. I think we all know I’m working on this one 😉

15. Save my personal money for a new wardrobe. Check! I was wrong last week, I had over $300 and now I have over $500-YAY!

16. Be on top of my budget and update Quicken every 2 weeks. Check!

17. Severely limit my computer and phone time when I’m with Lucy.  On weekdays, I should never use them when she’s awake and on weekends, I should use them sparingly when she’s awake. Check!

18. Get the bird out 4 times a week. Erm, does 2 times count as 4?

19. To appease my husband, never let the gas tank get below 1/2 a tank. Check! Such a pain in my arse.

20. Improve on my photography. I’m working on it.  I got my 50mm lens out and played with it some more.

And, the original 10 in 2010:

1. Take time out every day to simply enjoy my daughter. Check!

2. Try not to look too far forward or lament the past.  Enjoy NOW. Check!

3. Drink more water-at least 70 ounces per day. Check!

4. Use my juicer A LOT. Check!

5. Go to the gym more often than not. Check!

6. Eat healthfully-don’t put anything in my mouth that I wouldn’t feed Lucy. Check!

10. Fold my laundry when it comes out of the dryer. by Sunday night. This one is ever evolving :)  I think getting the laundry folded by Sunday night every week is a great goal.  I’m not a fold laundry during the week kinda girl and I’ve come to terms with it-good thing I usually only do laundry on Saturday and Sunday.

Actually, a pretty good week if I do say so myself 🙂

How did you do?  We’re past the 2 week mark into the New Year, are you sticking to your goals?

20 + 10 Check-In 1/10/10

January 10th, 2010 — 7:36pm

As I stated earlier, my 30 goals are a work in progress.  I’m not going to hit all of them every week and I’m not going to be 100% on them every week and that’s okay. It’s not about perfection, it’s about trying and learning.  And let me tell you, I’m trying!

So, how’d I do this week?  Let’s take a look:

1. Stop putting myself down.  Treat me like I would want others to treat Lucy. This one is hard.  I’ve been working on it and I’d say that I’m much more aware that I’m doing it and much better at stopping it.

2. Eat something green every day. I was going great guns on this one until my stomach affliction hit this weekend.  I ate something green every day but Saturday and Sunday.  Once my tummy is under control, I’ll be back at it!

3. Eat 2 servings of fruit every day. Check!

4. Completely cut out dairy except yogurt. The first half of the week? Not so much. Now? DEFINITELY.

5. Get back on my bike. Not yet, but I did spin twice this week.

6. Do something only for me 1 hour each week. Check! I went to knit night this week AND? I slept in until 10 today 🙂

7. Do something with Shaun that doesn’t include me sitting on the computer and him on the XBox or us watching TV for 1 hour each week. Check. Although we watched a lot of TV together this week.  I’d like to try and play a card game or something in the next week.

8. Dress nicely, including putting on make-up, at least 3 times a week. Check! I thought this was 4 times a week-HA! I did this 4 times last week.

9. Clean out Lucy’s drawers. I haven’t started this yet.

10. Clean out and organize the filing cabinet. I haven’t started this yet.

11. Complete Lucy’s birth book. Not yet.

12. Become a faster walker. If you can speed train for running, you can sure as hell do it for walking. I’m working on it!

13. Send out thank you notes in a more timely fashion and to everyone that deserves one. I have a box of thank you notes sitting here waiting to be filled out after I’m done here.

14. Lose 30 pounds or fit comfortably into my size 4-6 clothing. Working on it!

15. Save my personal money for a new wardrobe. There’s $150 in there and I haven’t touched it.

16. Be on top of my budget and update Quicken every 2 weeks. I’ll do this on the 15th!

17. Severely limit my computer and phone time when I’m with Lucy.  On weekdays, I should never use them when she’s awake and on weekends, I should use them sparingly when she’s awake. Check!

18. Get the bird out 4 times a week. I only got her out 3 times.  But I did give her a bath yesterday-can that count for 2?

19. To appease my husband, never let the gas tank get below 1/2 a tank. Check! This one is NO FUN but I’ve been doing it.

20. Improve on my photography. Hmmmm, I’m trying.

And the original 10 from the 10 in 2010 post:

1. Take time out every day to simply enjoy my daughter. Check! I love her SO much-this one is pretty easy.

2. Try not to look too far forward or lament the past.  Enjoy NOW. Check!

3. Drink more water-at least 70 ounces per day. Check!

4. Use my juicer A LOT. Check!

5. Go to the gym more often than not. Check! 4 out of 7 days this week.

6. Eat healthfully-don’t put anything in my mouth that I wouldn’t feed Lucy. 6/7 days check! Here’s hoping for 7/7 days next week.

7. Save money. Check! This is going well.

8. Run to the top of Waterdog Lake Road, while pushing Lucy, without stopping and back. Working on it.  I went twice last week.

9. Post at least 365 times in 2010.  I can post 3 times a day or skip a day but I want my average to be 1 post per day. I’m on track.

10. Fold my laundry when it comes out of the dryer. It turns out I have to modify this one.  I’m changing it to “Fold my laundry on the same day it comes out of the dryer.” Since I’m a Mom and Lucy comes first, it’s really difficult to fold things as soon as they come out of the dryer.  It is easy to throw things in a basket and get the next load going.  It’s also easy to do all the folding in one sitting when Lucy is asleep.  I’m okay with changing this one and Shaun is too.  It’s going well 🙂

So, the first week went well. It’s amazing how motivated by goals I am.  I’m hoping I’ll keep it up and get even better.

How about you?  How are your goals going?  What are YOU working on this week?

20 + 10 Challenge

January 3rd, 2010 — 7:43pm

My friend Ashley made a GREAT connection on her blog-20+10=30. And then it dawned on me:

  • I’m turning 30 this year
  • I actually REALLY want to lose 30 pounds this year
  • AND I realized that I had a TON more goals after my 10 in 2010 post.

It’s the year of 30!

Since goals motivate me, I’m going to up my 10 in 2010 to 30 goals.  I’ve created a new 20 + 10 page and I’ll be checking in once a week with my goals.  I don’t have to be perfect but I really do want to achieve these goals.

Here’s the 20!

1. Stop putting myself down.  Treat me like I would want others to treat Lucy.

2. Eat something green every day.

3. Eat 2 servings of fruit every day.

4. Completely cut out dairy except yogurt.

5. Get back on my bike.

6. Do something only for me 1 hour each week.

7. Do something with Shaun that doesn’t include me sitting on the computer and him on the XBox or us watching TV for 1 hour each week.

8. Dress nicely, including putting on make-up, at least 3 times a week.

9. Clean out Lucy’s drawers.

10. Clean out and organize the filing cabinet.

11. Complete Lucy’s birth book.

12. Become a faster walker. If you can speed train for running, you can sure as hell do it for walking.

13. Send out thank you notes in a more timely fashion and to everyone that deserves one.

14. Lose 30 pounds or fit comfortably into my size 4-6 clothing.

15. Save my personal money for a new wardrobe.

16. Be on top of my budget and update Quicken every 2 weeks.

17. Severely limit my computer and phone time when I’m with Lucy.  On weekdays, I should never use them when she’s awake and on weekends, I should use them sparingly when she’s awake.

18. Get the bird out 4 times a week.

19. To appease my husband, never let the gas tank get below 1/2 a tank.

20. Improve on my photography.

For reference, here are the 10 from my 10 in 2010 post:

1. Take time out every day to simply enjoy my daughter.

2. Try not to look too far forward or lament the past.  Enjoy NOW.

3. Drink more water-at least 70 ounces per day.

4. Use my juicer A LOT.

5. Go to the gym more often than not.

6. Eat healthfully-don’t put anything in my mouth that I wouldn’t feed Lucy.

7. Save money.

8. Run to the top of Waterdog Lake Road, while pushing Lucy, without stopping and back.

9. Post at least 365 times in 2010.  I can post 3 times a day or skip a day but I want my average to be 1 post per day.

10. Fold my laundry when it comes out of the dryer.

Anyone else want to join the challenge?  30 things to work on and improve in 2010?  Come on, you know you want to!
