Mommy’s Morning Out
My friend Bethany is here visiting her grandparents and we got to go out to breakfast without our kiddos this morning. It was FABULOUS.
We totally milked it for all it was worth and walked around after breakfast-we went to Starbucks and then to Molly Stone’s (kind of like a Whole Foods) to pick up the ingredients for dinner tonight.
A day late, but you won’t tell anyone, right? I was excited to see that Boar’s Head sells half pounds of bacon. The perfect amount for what I’m making. I inevitably end up throwing out bacon because I can never get through a package before it goes bad. Not anymore!
I was also excited to see fresh Black Eyed Peas. So much easier and faster.
They were on a super sale too. $1.99 per 11 ounce container. Score!
When I got home, it was evident that Daddy and Lucy had had a good time while Mommy was away.
My parents got Lucy that tunnel for Christmas and she LOVES it. She actually loves every single toy she got this year.
Speaking of which, I need to go through her toys and give away the stuff that she no longer uses. Maybe that’ll be my next task?

How fun! I look forward to your black eyed pea’s post, I’m sure it will be D to the E, to the L-I-C-I-O-U -, to the D, to the E, to the, to the, to the, hit it Chelsea.
You’re silly 🙂
Sometimes I wish I didn’t like meat so much so that I made things that YOU could eat! I was thinking about it the other day and I just really like meat. I know that makes me an outcast in the bloggy community but it’s true!
You mean I’m a dork haha 😉
well I just really don’t like meat lol. I don’t have alternative motives to not eat meat, which people always ask me. But there was a time when I was lifting weights pretty hardcore and I used to eat an egg for breakfast every day, a turkey sandwich for lunch and chicken or some sort of meat for dinner. Casey and I were just talking about how I haven’t touched an egg in awhile now and haven’t had meat for a long time (besides while I was in China) my body just doesn’t crave that protein anymore. I think when you “like” or crave a food it’s because your body needs it (or is addicted to “rush” it gets from eating fats and sugars). I wonder if I will ever go back to craving meat and eggs, maybe when I get pregnant? Well we do have lactose issues in common, I wouldn’t say I am intolerant but I am definitely lactose sensitive.
Bacon can be frozen! I don’t buy bacon often, but when I do, I bake it all in the oven and the freeze what we don’t eat that day. Just take it from the freezer and pop it in the micro for 30 seconds or so when you want to use it in another recipe or for breakfast. Easy!
i put bacon into smaller ziploc freeze bags when i buy it, then freeze the uncooked ones. still fine when they thaw!
I broke down and got Ev a tunnel for his birthday after he enjoyed the one at the library playroom so much. And hey! He got that little barn for his birthday too! You know, you could freeze the bacon and chop off what you need to thaw and leave the rest wrapped tightly in plastic wrap with a rubber band around it. That’s what we do.
I’ve frozen bacon before BUT I’m the master of putting something in the freezer and then forgetting about it. I actually probably have some in there now. =D
